Versão em portugues

Airbus Defence and Space’s Tetra technology has been selected as the new standard for the digital radio network infrastructure of the Military Police in Brasília – responsible for maintaining public order in the Federal District. The new Tetra network will replace the old analogue radio system. The contract had been awarded to the Brazilian telecommunications company LigMobile, a local partner of Airbus Defence and Space.

The contract includes supply and installation of the Tetra network with 40 dispatcher stations from Airbus Defence and Space. Making use of DXT3 switches, it will provide a wide geographical coverage. Among other things, it will offer the new RCS9500 station dispatcher and functionalities like geo-localisation and end-to-end encryption.

The Military Police unit of Brasília maintains 15,000 members organised into companies and platoons, primarily located in urban centres, but also spread around uptown according to the population density of the satellite towns. Major Saldanha, Coordinator of the Telecommunications Division emphasises, “The new digital radio network will bring unprecedented benefits to the Military Police of Brasília. Thanks to its superior performance, the Tetra system will protect our officers during their daily fight against crime and in law enforcement.”

”We are pleased to have won this important contract in Brazil thanks to our partnership with Airbus Defence and Space, a recognised international leader in the PMR business,” said Paulo Daher, CEO of LigMobile. “Our partnership is a solid basis from which to explore further business opportunities in Brazil together.

The premise for the overall setup of the system is that other security organisations in Brasília will be able to share the same PMR infrastructure in the future if required.” Olivier Koczan, Head of Secure Land Communications at Airbus Defence and Space said, “This Tetra network is a benchmark in Brazil. We are confident that the system will be able to leverage other opportunities in Brazil and Latin America.”
