BR-IN – Port Call Visit by Indian Naval Ship to BRAZIL to Celebrate 75 Years of INDIA’s Independence and 200 Years of Brazilian Indpendence


 
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence on 15 Aug 22 and 200th anniversary of Brazilian Independence, the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tarkash, a front-line warship of the Indian Navy will be making a goodwill visit to Brazil at Rio de Janeiro from 13 to 16 Aug 2022.

A flag hoisting ceremony would be held on-board on 15 Aug 2022. The port call by INS Tarkash at Rio de Janeiro is a demonstration of India’s warm ties with Brazil and indicates the resolve of both countries to further strengthen the strategic partnership.
 
As a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, Indian Naval Ships would be positioned in every continent (except Antarctica) to raise the Indian Flag on 15 Aug 2022. Indian Naval ships are regularly deployed as part of Indian Navy’s mission of building ‘bridges of friendship’ and strengthening international cooperation with friendly countries. The Port Call visit by INS Tarkash will mark the celebration of the 75 years of Indian Independence and 200 years of Brazilian Independence.
 
The ship is part of the Indian Navy’s Western Fleet and is under the Operational Command of Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, based at Mumbai. INS Tarkash is one of the most potent frontline frigates of the Indian Navy equipped with a versatile range of weapons and sensors.
 
During the Port Call visit, professional interactions between Indian Navy and Brazilian Navy are planned to enhance maritime engagement. Various dignitaries and government officials of Brazil would also be invited to visit the ship. India-Brazil relations are based on common values, shared democratic ideals, and a commitment to foster economic growth.

Both countries are thriving democracies with a plural, inclusive and diverse socio-economic construct. Engagement in the Defence Sector is one of the key elements of strategic partnership between the two countries.
