As NATO prepares for the forthcoming Warsaw Summit within the context of an increasingly complex, congested and contested international environment, the search for capability solutions continues to gather pace across all domains, with an increasingly sharp focus on the land domain. Against this backdrop the global defence industry will gather at Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEI) 2017, taking place at ExCeL London on 12 – 15 September 2017, and will offer military users, procurement professionals and policy makers an opportunity to network, and to see innovative capability solutions presented by the international defence industry.
For the land environment the event will highlight the concepts that will be at the heart of the Warsaw Summit, including developments that will increase NATO's responsiveness and agility. The UK has recently committed to developing two new Strike Brigades, and at DSEI these concepts and the technical realities will be presented, including the key equipment that will be at the heart of these new capabilities, such as General Dynamics' AJAX armoured vehicle. In addition the Strike Brigades are expected to have a new mechanised infantry vehicle and to offer a full range of combat support and combat service support capabilities that will reflect the emerging deployment concepts of the Brigade. The DSEI 2017 showcase will also include a dismounted soldier feature, a mounted close combat area, and an expeditionary HQ with its associated Force Protection.
General Sir Nicholas Carter Chief of the General Staff said, "I much look forward to DSEI 2017. We intend to build on the very positive experience of DSEI 2015 as we construct the partnerships we need to deal with the complexity of the future operating environment". In addition to the British Army, exhibitors including BAE Systems, FN Herstal, General Dynamics, HESCO, Kongsberg, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, MBDA, Nammo, Nexter, Patria, QinetiQ, QIOPTIQ, Rheinmetall, RUAG, Textron, and Thales are already committing to space. These companies represent a full spectrum of capability in the land domain from manufacturing vehicles, complex weapons, ammunition, and C4I equipment as well as providing logistic and maintenance support and advanced force protection equipment.
