The warning and surveillance modules of RENAULT TRUCKS Defense (RTD) e-Support have been assessed on military equipment in operational situations. Enabling remote in-service maintenance, these Health Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) represent the future, and offer the guarantee of support at affordable cost.
The warning sensors (in the event of faults occurring which could interrupt a mission) and surveillance sensors (for tracking major function potential) have been installed on a fleet of vehicles destined for the training of military units in the Champagne and Provence camps. They have quickly demonstrated the utility and relevance of the real-time collection of precise data concerning the state of health of equipment.
Complemented by diagnostic and troubleshooting aid modules, along with maintenance and design modules for analyzing and exploiting technical incidents, all of these mechanisms will provide military users and maintenance technicians with the guarantee of improved technical-operational availability, and will help to secure operational missions.
They will make it possible to anticipate malfunctions, reduce vehicle downtime and enable optimized dynamic configuration management. In this way they will help to address manpower constraints, equipment complexity and budgetary strictures.
