As reported by the portal Aviator.Guru, Russian Aircraft Corporation “MiG” presented its employees with an unusual New Year “gift”: 1,500 out of 10,000 employees received a firing notice.
The official reason for layoffs: it was done “to ensure flawless following the budget guidelines for 2015 in order to optimize the management structure of the corporation”.
However, according to industry experts the reason is different, and the corporation is being slowly “trashed” – there was nothing outstanding done by “MiG” in the last few decades.
After the founder of MiG Artem Mikoyan passed away, the company gradually fell into decay, and there were 5 CEOs changed over the past 10 years.
All the “new development” produced by MiG today: the MiG-29K/KUB, MiG-29M/M2, and “the newest” MiG-35 are, in fact, only modifications of MiG-29 that was developed in 60s. An attempt to start production of drones has failed.
In the context of high oil prices, and an excess of money the country was able to maintain MiG. But in the current crisis, further funding of the corporation became an inadmissible luxury.
