The Brazilian and Swedish governments signed this Tuesday (25th) in London, at Brazil’s embassy in England, the financing agreement worth US$ 5.4 billion for the purchase of 36 combat aircrafts Gripen NG, from the Swedish company Saab.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the first aircraft is to be delivered in 2019 and, the last, in 2024. According to the Ministry of Defense, the jets will meet the operational needs of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) for the next 30 years.
The contract also stipulates the manufacturing of 15 of the 36 jets to take place in Brazil, including eight two-place aircrafts, a model created for FAB.
