SEA GRIPEN – SAAB e EMBRAER no NAe A-12 São Paulo Link

On September 4th, 2014, a group of technicians of SAABand EMBRAER Defesa & Segurança visited Brazilian Navy Carrier NAe A-12 São Paulo, looking for verify “in loco” and exchange ideas with ship and Diretoria de Aeronáutica da Marinha (DAerM) teams, technical details for necessary modifications to adapt aircraft Gripen to Naval embarked operations.
Technical details collected will be analised and applied to current GRIPEN aircrafts, for in the near future, SAAB company can present to Brazilian Navy (MB) its findings and conclusions, confirming or not, that a Gripen Naval Version can operates, with safety, since carrier NAe São Paulo.
On September, 5th 2014 a group was received by Brazilian Navy Aeronautical Director, Rear-Admiral Carlos Frederico Carneiro Primo, that emphasized Project F–X2 importance, since means a real gain in National Defense. Also for Transfer of Technology, by means of deals, for defense industrial base and Brazilian autonomy in Defense. Also represents an important opportunity for generate new business in Brazil and in international markets.
Commented that developing (engineering project) of a Gripen Naval version would be the landmark in the process of Technology Transfer confirming the skills of National Defense Industry.
At the end, SAAB Director in Brazil, Mr. Andrew Wilkinson,thanked the opportunity to work in collaboration with Brazilian Navy, and manifested enthusiasm by the project.

In past August a SAAB delegation visited carrier A-12 São Paulo. Gripen NG Program has ambition to meet the requirements of Brazilian Navy for a an aircraft operation embarked called SEA GRIPEN operation in the future carriers to be commissioned by Brazilian Navy.
