Atech and DFS Aviation Services start common system development

The Brazilian air traffic technology supplier, Atech, part of Embraer Group, and DFS Aviation Services, a fully owned subsidiary of the German air navigation service provider DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the World ATM Congress in Madrid.
 
The two companies want to cooperate in order to combine their expertise to market common solutions for enroute, approach and aerodrome control units worldwide.
 
One of the focus of this collaboration is the further development of an Arrival Management System as well as the integration of data from neighbouring air traffic control units (XMAN).
 
Additionally, the companies want to realise a data exchange platform (SWIM) in accordance with the ICAO requirements.

DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the German air navigation service provider, is a State-owned company under private law with 5,400 employees. DFS ensures the safe and punctual flow of air traffic over Germany. Around 2,000 air traffic controllers guide up to 10,000 flights in German airspace every day, about three million movements every year.

The company operates control centres in Langen, Bremen, Karlsruhe and Munich as well as control towers at 16 international airports in Germany. Its subsidiary DFS Aviation Services offers its products and services related to air traffic management worldwide and provides air navigation services at nine German regional airports as well as at London Gatwick Airport in the UK through its subsidiary Air Navigation Solutions Ltd.

DFS Aviation Services GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of DFS, the German air navigation service provider (ANSP). It employs more than 110 members of staff as at January 2018. DFS Aviation Services is a certified ANSP and provides air traffic services at nine regional airports in Germany.

Through its UK subsidiary, Air Navigation Solutions, it is also responsible for the provision of air traffic control at London Gatwick, the UK's second largest airport. DFS Aviation Services also markets and sells products and services related to air navigation services. Its customers include air navigation services organisations, airport operators, airlines and aeronautical authorities from around the world.
